The sacred geometry of the salvage.

I like to use what's at hand. To harness the power of the materials and let them speak through me. All the materials in this mandala were either found in the dumpster or rescued on their way there. I like the idea of turning urban refuse into something to cherish. It's a way for me to find light in the excesses of the society we live in today.

  1. Harris--it's quite something to see this mandala piece presented frontally--that is, with full round of the shapes throughout. I didn't get there that night we looked in 170, but your photo here clarifies the work--and I see more clearly where you were taking us. The reflections on the metal (precious metal) are a part of it. Also--I chose the word mandala without realizing you had just used it in what you wrote--that's good, too...

  2. And I read salvage as savage--maybe that meaning was hidden in there, too... Or did I borrow it from Charlie's wall hanging?
